Coachella out, female celebs *in* outer space. ๐
Reminiscing about Coachella, old queens squash their beef and more.
I Knew Coachella Before It Became Mainstream
Festival Season is here! Coachella used to worry about Oxford commas in the desert while watching Vampire Weekend at sunset. Now itโs where you go to soft-launch your situationship in a sponsored Revolve tent. Is this the gentrification of indie culture? 100%
Back in the olden days (aka the early 2010s), Coachella was a pilgrimage for those who stalked music blogs to discover the next best artist, Tumblr fashion era that would go double platinum on the platform for their hobo style, and people who unironically used the word "vibes.
Once upon a time (aka the early 2010s), Coachella was a pilgrimage for music heads, Tumblr girls, and people who unironically used the word "vibes." It was where you discovered your new favorite band playing a 2 p.m. set on a dusty side stage while holding a $7 bottle of water like it was a sacred relic. Arcade Fire headlined. Flower crowns were homemade. And we couldnโt wait to see Vanessa Hudgens and Alexa Chungโs outfits throughout the festival. Now, itโs all top-billing artists will headline every music festival throughout the summer. The fashion? It cannot be defined like the golden years; even Vanessa and Alexa stopped attending, which is proof we have entered an era where Coachella is no longer the main girl for music festivals.
Cut to 2025: Coachella is now less a music festival, more influencer battleground. The indie bands are still technically on the lineup, somewhere down in the font size designated for elders to put their readers on. And good luck spotting them between the legacy headliners, random surprise reunions no one asked for, and three different DJs whose names sound like ChatGPT-generated.
Festivals evolve. But itโs hard not to miss the weird little chaos Coachella used to be excited to see, which indie artists would hit the lineup, and what font size they would be on the poster. Now, I know Lady Gaga is headlining and probably sees a bunch of TikToks from Gen Z who are there solely to create content.
The White Lotus drama is still unfolding
Iโm looking forward to my Sundays not being designated to watching The White Lotus. No more people spending too much time coming up with theories on how it will end or think pieces on the deeper meaning of the most mundane scene that idiots like me clearly missed. Iโm FREE!
But why is it that the drama unfolding after the show with the actors is more entertaining than the actual show? As I mentioned last week, there were rumors that there might have been an affair between Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins, and I didnโt believe it. Fast forward to new context clues, something definitely went down.*
They unfollowed each other on Instagram after they had previously interacted with one another on the platform.
Aimee has blocked Walton, which has prevented him from tagging her in his recent posts about the show.
Walton posted extremely long poetic posts about Aimee and their characters on the show (Rick and Chelsea) as if they were Romeo and Juliet of our generation. The finale gave Goggins flashbacks of when things were good with his mistress.
Aimee barely acknowledges him and does not see Rick and Chelsea as *couple goals*.
All interviews with the cast do not have Walton and Aimee simultaneously.
And Jason Issacs is longing to spill the tea in interviews, but being contractually obligated not to share anything with us.
Things are starting to add up and point towards an affair and a falling out. And I desperately need to know what led to the blocking, media separation, Walton begging for that old thang back publicly.
This is all allegedly*

We need Detective LaToya Jackson on the case.
Outerspace Girls
On April 14, an all-female crewโincluding Katy Perry, Gayle King, and Lauren Sรกnchezโwill embark on Blue Origin's New Shepard NS-31 mission, marking a historic moment in space travel. Mind you, they will only be in space for 15 mins.
The Crew:
Katy Perry: Former pop star.
Gayle King: Esteemed journalist and Oprahโs bestie.
Lauren Sรกnchez: Bezoโs side chick who is now the main chick.
Aisha Bowe: Aerospace engineer and former NASA rocket scientist.
Amanda Nguyen: Civil rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee.
Kerianne Flynn: Film producer.
One common theme Iโve seen online is Black people collectively questioning begging Gayle King to not get on the Amazon Prime rocket ship.
Work it out on the remix: the old baddies edition
Todayโs pop stars donโt beef like the old queens didโback when shade was public, petty, and personal. The closest we got was Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, and once Katyโs career started flopping, she basically fell to her knees and offered an olive branch (literally).
But legends age, and apparently, so does the urge to be petty. Madonnaโwho Elton once called a โfairground stripperโโshowed up at last weekendโs SNL taping just to watch him perform. Backstage, Elton greeted her with open arms and asked for forgiveness. They even posed for a pic, and Madonna dropped a surprisingly sweet caption about their messy history.
Maybe thereโs hope for Kendrick and Drake after all (but letโs not rush it, the diss tracks are still fun).
Until next timeโprotect Gayle King, stream indie sleaze tunes, and can someone give Jason Issacs some truth serum?
xo,
britt.
